Biography:
Born May 31, 1937
at Pawnee, Oklahoma, daughter of Lee Otis Jones and Velma Louise
Pensoneau Jones. This date 2001.
The rolling plains, breathtaking skies and gentle surroundings
of a home decorated with Native American art in picture
and artifacts were the things to stimulate a child to want
to learn to draw. Through the grades at every opportunity
the offer of art in the classroom was there for anyone
who wished to learn.
A brief time in college gave some instruction. However,
the fire was lit to progress with the introduction of a
home study course from a gentleman representative of a
school out of Westport, Connecticut. Their representative
was himself, like myself, half blood of two nationalities.
He was one half white Russian and one half Mongolian. His
bearing was very much of the Native American as was his
diction and physical characteristics. With his unhurried,
no pressure type presentation, allowing me to keep materials
and call him if I decided upon enrollment, I was given
time to study the methods and consequently enrolled. I
was also impressed by the fact that the gentleman had found
me after two years of searching in several different towns
where we had lived. I had submitted some of my work to
the school. Thereafter, I carried their materials to study
about with me while I waited on the many therapies for
my handicapped child.
Over the years I have studied with many well known successful
artists in workshops. One of the most success was a portrait
artist, one John Howard Sandin out of the Art Students
League, New York City. His portraits are commissioned for
30,000.00. This in 1983. He does portraits for rulers,
owners of mega companies, and beautiful people of all nations.
Having exhibited over the years it is still my wish to
continue with these efforts since I have witnessed the
benefit and up lifting of human consciousness when presented
with an artists efforts
