Name: Abulgasem M. Issa Mashai
Nationality: Libyan
Location: Tripoli, Libya
Profession: Painter, Writer, Scientific Researcher

Education:
Fluid Mechanical and Process Engineering, Social applied science & Civilization Comparative.

Biography:

As soon as I have finished secondary school, I left my beloved homestead (Mezda), locates by the western mountain side, 190 Km. (Southwest of Tripoli). To Tripoli city to continue my education at the university where I have got B.sc of Petroleum and Natural Gas Engineering, plus an advanced research diploma of applied social science (Civilization Comparison), then in due courses and certifications I have done some traveling around different countries, after some years from working and traveling. I have settled in VENEZUELA for almost one year studying Spanish language, and then left for France and have first stayed in Vichy for some time, However I have done some more traveling around France and some several EU countries. Then I reached up to Alsace region at the northeastern side of France where I have eventually settled in Strasbourg city, and joined Louis Pasteur University- CNRS- for a postgraduate studies and researches (Master of Eng, PhD program) in (Fluid Mechanical and Industrial Process Engineering).

After all I have returned back to Libya by early 2002, working since then at the national board of scientific research and teaching as well at Libyan universities. I also did part time teaching at faculty of art and media, and at humanity science faculty- Mezda, at the department of social science and philosophy.

In addition to my official work, I have devoted my part time to writing and painting because I was fond of writing and drawing since I was a school student at preparatory and secondary school, however talking about plastic arts always makes me wonder, think, and remember….. Remember that lovely old days of 1982-1983, when my paintings were exhibited and officially recognized during graduation day….I have continued painting since then, although I stop for a little while but go back sooner to my paintbrush and colors and start painting once again, therefore some of my paintings accepted by some cultural centers and also appeared on the cover of different publications.

I always think of arts, creations, and of myself as an artist as if I am in a stat of fond and love of painting that evokes my emotions and makes my deep inside emerges to finally appear as embodiment of different colors that clarify spiritual self conscious of existence and existent. On the other hand, being a plastic artist means to me to objectify and object and not the other way around, peace of mind, and I feel as well that a painting is a wide horizon and cosmos which makes me able to escape from numerous philosophical, intellectual questions and be free to create an other language of mine…, language that colored with enjoyment of endless beauty. Furthermore, my career in writing goes back to some years ago when I first written several subjects in different journals and periodicals, However I have paid much attention to culture in general( poetry, criticism, applied science, engineering,..), and kept on looking sub- eternity and deep inside the language itself to discover substance of reading, and feel that I am still sincere to looking listening, reading and writing, and after quite some time of writing, I was able to work as an editor for some magazines, one of them was early concerned with youth issues in 1988, also I have written and prepared some cultural programs for local T.V and broadcasting service, some of them still going on like a program called (cultural bag).

I have written already five collections of poetry, critical and intellectual subjects and researches to be published shortly, and I have also participated in some national and international conferences and symposiums, and all that have given me a chance to participate in establishment of some non-government national and international associations which cares for cultural, human rights, knowledge societies and environment issues.

Some writers also have written some critical opinions about my creative works, and some interviews have been made with me in subjects like: refugees, immigration, poverty, anthropology, education, knowledge, however I do explain my ideas through different reviews, articles and internet web sites.

Despite of all this, I fell that I have just started and have not done anything yet, and such feeling makes me to say that I have not written yet what I want to write, and have not painted yet what I want to, and have not said yet all tales, ideas and opinions.

  Activity:

I published Nemours of papers and articles at different periodicals and reviews, also had been accepted in conferences and seminars.
